Ready to Graduate(?)

I’m currently a senior and I feel like I have spent my last semester trying to figure out what to do with my life post-graduation. I’m an international student. Which means I can’t legally work in the U.S. while on a student visa. Thanks to the OPT (Optional Practical Training), I have the option of working in the U.S. for a year. At the beginning, I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it and in fact I was pretty convinced I wasn’t going to apply. I thought the easiest thing for me to do was just to go back home (Panama) and find a job there.

But then it dawned on me, if I didn’t take this opportunity; I would never be able to have the experience of working for an American company. Ever since the semester started, I have been in a state of constant stress, and I’m already a pretty anxious person. I have been rushing to get all my documents in order so I could apply while simultaneously looking for jobs. It feels very bizarre for me to look for jobs when I haven’t even graduated. It feels like my experience at Towson University is quickly coming to an end. I know I’m not the only one trying to figure out life, but let’s try not to get lost in it, we have less than two (how!?) months left, and let’s make the best of it while we can.

I applied for the OPT right before we left for spring break; wish me luck!
