We’re back…A Dinosaurs Story!
If you are a returning student, welcome back to Towson! I know you’ve been anxious to return to Tigertown. At one point during the summer, you started feeling like it’s time to go back. That feeling may have come sooner if you worked a 7-hour summer camp and a part-time contracting job in Washington D.C. like I did.
No worries: you have returned to tanning out and doing homework in Freedom Square, standing in line at Paws after midnight, giving Doc the Tiger high-fives, screaming “TU” at all the football games, and rocking out to SportsCenter (aka “The Sauce”) with the world famous Towson University Marching Band.
If you are a new student (freshman, transfer or abroad), allow me to be the 150th person to welcome you to Towson University!
Now, quick question: does anyone else have the feeling that this will be an epic academic year? I definitely felt a tremendous amount of hype coming into this year. Maybe it’s because this is my final full year of college. Maybe it’s because this is also my last year in the Towson University Marching Band. Maybe it’s because I have a lead in one of the theatre department’s mainstage plays. Maybe it’s because I’m turning 21 this December.
However, that’s just me.
Maybe YOU are excited for your first year at Towson or at a university in general. Maybe you are excited for TU’s 150th anniversary and the awesome things the university has planned. Maybe you’re excited for a new major or a new life change taking effect. Maybe you’re excited because you just can’t help but notice how attractive people are on this campus…
Anyway, my point is no matter what took place before we stepped on campus this August, there is so much to look forward to and be hopeful for. I’m on a mission to make this campus my playground. I want you all to do the same.
Let’s learn something new about ourselves, about life. Let’s go on adventures. Let’s create memories and mark a legacy. Let’s be honest. Let’s be real.
We have a responsibility to make every moment the absolute best we can make it for us. It’s on us. So for TU150, can we at least try and keep it 100? Maybe 150?
