As I step into my final year at Towson University, I am reminded of several songs that stuck by my side the past two years, and the new meaning they have come to take. Many of these songs have graced our ears numerous times and usually while we broke bread amongst our friends, or our parents on Family Weekend. Below are some of the catchiest songs that just wouldn’t leave me alone, and, now that we’re back to school, they won’t leave you alone either. Click and enjoy!
1. YOLO – The Lonely Island (feat. Adam Levine & Kendrick Lamar)
The perfect anthem for freshman… even though I transferred as a junior. You Oughta Look Out applies no matter your academic status.
2. Safe And Sound – Capital City
Mom and Dad, don’t worry… I’m doing that enough for both of us. See above song!
3. Burn – Ellie Goulding
What we do to calories/fat in Burdick Hall… when we get up to go anyway.
4. Roar – Katy Perry
5. All of Me – John Legend
Plays every time a couple holds hands crossing the bridge to Glen Dinning or West Village, and as they kiss good bye on the steps leading to Smith Hall.
6. Ain’t It Fun – Paramore
No. It’s not fun, Hayley! Rent! No car! Not enough dining/retail points!
7. Royals – Lorde
It’s never felt so cool to sing about essentially never becoming cool.
8. Fancy – Iggy Azalea
New school clothes!
9. Shake It Off – Taylor Swift
When you got your car for the first time, but parked in all the wrong places earning you 4 WARNING tickets. That was close!
10. Stay With Me – Sam Smith feat. Mary J Blige
Please don’t go, warm weather… don’t go!
