Can you feel the Love at Towson?

Hey everybody! I’m not sure about everyone else, but I’m getting a little overwhelmed with my schoolwork right about now. We’re past the halfway mark, and finals week starts in a month. Sometimes you need to do something to clear your head and so something fun to relieve yourself of all of the stress.

If you took a look at Dana’s blog earlier this week, it’s Towson’s “Love is Louder” week! All of the events that they are hosting this week have really been helping me to not stress about school. To fill you in, Love is Louder is a movement focused on providing support to those that feel mistreated, misunderstood or alone. There are events all week long, and there’s still two more days left to get involved!

Last night I participated in Glow in the Dark Zumba and watched tons of students participate in a Fun Run around campus. Today, I was even a part of a group photo! Unfortunately, I was somewhere in the middle of the group, so you might not be able to see me… If you’re interested in learning more about Towson’s Love is Louder week, you can join the Facebook group and check out the event page!

There I am! In the middle!

After spending the past few days talking about love, and since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I want to spend the rest of my time (or space, if you want to get technical) talking about some of the things that I appreciate in life! You heard about my mom’s cheddar brownies last week, so I’ll spare you from hearing more about them this time around (or not, they seriously are delicious).

First off, I’m thankful for the opportunity to have an education. Believe it or not, there aren’t very many mice that know how to read and write (let alone blog and organize a team of humans). I’m thankful that my family encouraged me to go to school growing up, because now I’m officially a college student and I’ll have so many more opportunities when I graduate! Yes, there’s a lot of stress involved, but it’s helping to make me a well-rounded mouse!

Speaking of being a college student, I don’t think I would enjoy school life as much if I went to a university that wasn’t Towson. I’ve been able to become so involved here that I really don’t miss home as much as I thought I would. I love the fact that our campus is so close to a city with so much to do! I’ve had something to do every weekend, and even this weekend we have Turkey Run! I won’t be running (if you think a mile is long, consider how long it is to a mouse!), I’ll be cheering everyone else along at the finish line.

Another thing I’m thankful for is the incredible support system that I have! Friends, family, even my professors- I couldn’t have become the mouse I am today without these people (and fellow mice) cheering me along the entire time. I’m very lucky to have so many supporters helping to make sure that I have every resource I need to accomplish everything that I want to. It’s also wonderful to know that I will always have someone to talk to if I need to!

Those are just some of the things that I wanted to share with you. I’ve noticed a lot of my Facebook friends have been sharing what they’re thankful for each day, and I think that is completely awesome! That’s why I enjoy the Thanksgiving season so much, it brings people together and helps them to think about what they really appreciate in life. I’d love to hear what my fellow students are thankful for, please take a moment and share!
