Hey all! This week is Halloween, and for many of us, that means dressing up in clever costumes and having tons of fun. But you might be surprised that there’s quite a few events this week that aren’t Halloween-related. Whatever you’re into, there’s something for you to try. Check out this week’s events!
Saturday, October 27: All you TU guys can stop by West Village Commons between 10 am and 5 pm for the Men’s Leadership Symposium sponsored by Student Affairs. This event will help you learn how to be a better leader, and use all the resources at your disposal.
At 8 pm, all are invited to attend an advanced showing of the Dark Knight Rises in Speaker’s Circle thanks to Campus Life, CAB and URG. Perfect for the season, right?
Sunday, October 28: Want to go trick or treating but don’t think you’ll have time on Halloween? Well if you stop by Glen Dining Hall at 2 pm, you can take part in games and activities before the real trick or treating begins in the Towers. This event, sponsored by HRL and Student Affairs, is a great way to celebrate Halloween…before Halloween!
Monday, October 29:
It’s that time again. All commuters are invited to a dinner just for you, sponsored by Student Activities, where you can socialize and get free food. What’s better than that?
Think you’re a good public speaker? Love the written word? If you said yes, then today’s event is definitely for you. SGA and Student Affairs is sponsoring “Words for the Shadow,” an event from 8:30 to 10 pm in Potomac Lounge, where students can read and perform poetry and other writings. It’s open to all students!
Tuesday, October 30: Can’t quite wrap your head around Excel? Think you’ll never be a spreadsheet wizard? Well think again. Today in the library (Room 3), you can attend a free workshop that will teach you how to master the intricacies of Excel. The event is sure to be informative, and will be held between 10 am and 12 pm.
Wednesday, October 31: In case you forgot, today is Halloween, and Towson University is making sure students can still have a blast, even if it falls on a Wednesday. Today you can go trick-or-treating through any participating campus offices, such as Student Activities, HRL, Campus Life and SGA (to name a few). Who says college kids are too old to enjoy Halloween?
If you didn’t get enough candy by trick-or-treating, CAB will make sure you get your sugar fix. Stop by the Potomac Lounge between 12 and 3 for “Chocolate Delight,” an event where you can dip fruit and other delicious foods in a chocolate fountain. Count me in!
Thursday, November 1: It’s Thursday…and that means Trivia night!
Friday, November 2: Love volunteering but don’t know where to donate your time? First Fridays can help. This monthly event, sponsored by Student Activities, gives students the chance to visit different organizations each month and help make a difference. This month, students will be helping out at the Maryland SPCA. Don’t miss it!
